Blog Tour: Playing for Her Heart by @MeganErickson_ - Review/Interview (@Tastybooktours)

Playing for Her Heart (Gamers #2)
Author: Megan Erickson
Publication Date: August 11, 2015
Published: Entangled: Brazen

My Rating:

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...
She wanted fantasy. He's about to make it a reality...
Grant Osprey just had the hottest sex of his life. Sure, they were both in costume, and yes, it was anonymous, but he never expected her to bolt in the middle of the night without so much as a good bye, let alone exchanging numbers. Or names. All he's left with are her panties and some seriously X-rated memories...until he meets his business partner's little sister.
Only Chloe Talley isn't the bold, sexy vixen he remembers. And she wants nothing to do with him.
Cosplay is Chloe's only chance to leave her boring, socially awkward world behind. To forget that she's failing at life and can't be with anyone, let alone a single-father like Grant. But the raw hunger between them is undeniable. With him, she can be a misbehaving maid. A sexy call girl for hire. Each scene pushes Chloe beyond her strict boundaries, until Grant demands the one character she can't play.

There is no need to go into detail of how much I love Megan Erickson, it's been said over and over. However, lets talk about this book.

Grant Osprey from Changing His Game was perfect as the best friend to Austin. He was a single dad and the perfect extrovert to Austin's introvert. His daughter Sydney was adorable and everything seemed right. He was the playboy, the face of the company and life was pretty much set for him. That's when you know a woman is going to enter into his bubble and shake the shit out of it.

And here comes Chloe Talley. Cosplaying vixen. When Chloe and Grant meet, it was one of the best things I've ever read in a ME book. It was hot as hell, and it was playful. Hooking up with someone in costume that you meet at a convention is kinda something convention people thing about but never know if it is going to happen. Trust me, I have cosplaying friends. But just as fast as a costume and makeup to come off, Chloe or Sari was gone and Grant left with nothing but hot memories.

If it ended there that would suck right? Of course it doesn't! Chloe comes back into Grant's life in an unexpected way. Chloe is vastly different from the girl he hooked up with. To me she was basically Austin in female form at first. Very guarded and introverted. She liked to cook and be geeky. I adored her immediately. But knowing a bit of the past of what happened to her family, you immediately feel for struggles. For me, I rooted very early for Grant to be that balance that she needed. And in turn, what Grant needed as well.

Not only was this book sexy, it was cute and funny and a bit heartbreaking. I really liked how food was a big hobby for her. It seemed like another way for her to really express herself in a way she normally couldn't. It was just like the cosplaying.

I would have loved to have more scenes where Grant and Chloe really got to know more about each other without the need to rip each other's clothes off. Their attraction mores very fast but it kinda makes sense because Grant was kinda the go get em kind of guy.

Now all I want is more, and definitely a third book that involves Chloe's brother Ethan. Yep, he's all broken and probably needs some loving.

Lazy Book Lovers: We know that Chole finds strength and freedom when she cosplays, what would be your go to cosplay?

Megan Erickson: I think I'd be Daenerys Targaryen - Khaleesi. Mainly because I want to stand next to as many Khal Drogos as I can.

LBL: I have to say that you have some of the best leading ladies I've ever read, what are some of your inspirations for them?

ME: Aw, well thank you! I don't know, really. I love writing strong women who say what they think. I just... love reading romance and if the heroine doesn't hook me or give me a reason to root for her, it's hard for me to get engaged. So I work really hard to write vibrant heroines. Chloe was actually my first why heroine, which was interesting!

LBL: Us being the Lazy Book Lovers, what are some of the things that you do in your down time to veg out?

ME: I just bought an adult coloring book! I'm totally getting in on the crazy. I'm excited. Of course, my adult coloring book has cats in it, haha. Other than that, I like to read, honestly.

LBL: You've probably have been asked what your writing process is, I would like to know what are some of your writing distractions?

ME: Writing distractions - Facebook, Twitter, and talking to my writer friends. I can waste a lot of time talking about pretty much nothing.

LBL: When you were writing Changing His Game, did you already have an idea of where you would go with Grant's story in Playing For Her Heart?

ME: I had a really vague idea of who is heroine would be, but not, really what she would be like. Once I nailed her down in my head, that's when I wrote Grant's book and had a blast with the role-playing and themes.

LBL: Gaming is a big fandom within itself. What's your favorite and least favorite thing about the bookish fandom?

ME: Favorite: It's small.
Least: It's small.
Haha, it's kind of a catch-22. I love that it's small and easy to connect with people but it can also be hard because word travels fast, and even faster when it's negative.

LBL: If you had to describe Playing For Her Heart in 3 words, what would they be?

ME: Sexy
        Nerdy
        Fun

Thanks for having me on the blog!

Megan worked as a journalist covering real-life dramas before she decided she liked writing her own endings better and switched to fiction.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. When she's not tapping away on her laptop, she's probably listening to the characters in her head who won't stop talking.
