Top Ten Tuesday! Movie Freebie

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish

Top five all time favorite movies adaptations from a book or play.

1) Clueless - it was based on Emma so it counts, even if I have never read Emma. This movie defines a generation and is so quotable. My friends and I have gone to Clueless Trivia and won!

2) Steel Magnolias - was a play based on the life of the writer's sister and community. They say write what you know, but it was also the perfect chemistry of the cast in the 1989 movie that makes it work. I know this movie by heart and my sister and I would act out the salon scenes with our Barbie dolls and beauty parlor accessories.

3) Little Women (1994) - How could I not love a story about sisters? When Beth dies, I cry so hard my body hurts. Also, I had such a crush on Christian Bale as Laurie, before I knew how intense he is!

4) Pride and Prejudice (2005) - I am talking about the one with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. The chemistry between the two is hot. This is another movie I know by heart. I love the proposal scene in the gazebo. After all that arguing and Lizzy telling Darcy she would never marry him, they look like they want to passionately kiss each other.

5) Ever After - is the best adaptation of Cinderella. She and the prince actually get to know each other and talk about books and stuff. She inspires him. Not to mention Angelica Houston plays an evil step-mother so well.

Top five favorite movies from the 90's

1. Titanic - Probably my favorite movie ever. Cheesy as it may be, something about this movie always speaks to me. No matter what, I can watch it and still laugh and cry at all the same parts.

2. Speed - Give me Sandra and Keanu any day. Again, a movie I can watch and never get bored with it. Keanu's acting is highly questionable in this, but there is something about falling in love while driving a bus with a bomb strapped to the bottom. Suspense people!

3. A League of Their Own - There is no crying in baseball! Everyone remembers that line because it is a great one. I loved how girl power it was without being in your face. Plus, it gave me one of my favorite Madonna songs.

4. Edward Scissorhands - Before Johnny Depp got weird and Winona started stealing. I loved this movie and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out the amazing minds of Depp and Burton.

5. Legends of The Fall - Some people fell in love with Brad Pitt in Thelma and Louise. I fell in love with him in this movie. It will always be one of my and my mom's favorite movies we ever seen. It's tragic and beautiful.

Book Review: Daring Fate by Megan Erickson! (@MeganErickson_)

Daring Fate (Silver Tip Pack #1)
Author: Megan Erickson
Publication Date: November 14, 2016
Source: Author in exchange for a honest review.

My Rating:

We all have tragic backstories in today's world.
I wake up chained to the wall of a dark cell aware of two things: I failed my sister, and I smell my enemy.
When I’m taken to meet Dare, the alpha of the Silver Tip pack, I’m sure I’m about to lose my throat. The last thing I expect is for the Alpha to recognize me as his fated mate. No way is he going to let me go now, and I still have to find a way to rescue my sister.
As I plot my escape to save her, I find that if I leave, Dare could be killed by power-hungry members of his pack. And now he’s more to me than my fated mate—my heart is involved. With time ticking by on my sister’s life, I have to make a choice I never thought I’d face—my sister’s life or my mate’s? That’s if I can survive the undead shifters intent on killing me first...

Holy… I don’t think there are enough words to describe this book. For over a year I have been raving about anything Megan Erickson writes. But when I saw she was stepping out of contemporary and into the paranormal, I didn’t know what to expect. I have never read an adult paranormal book before. Let along an adult paranormal book with a M/M romance between werewolves. I can definitely check that off the list now.

Blog Tour: Life As We Know It by J.D. Hollyfield!

Life As We Know It (Love Not Included #4)
Author: J.D. Hollyfield
Publication Date: November 14, 2016
Published: J.D. Hollyfield
Source: TRSOR Promotions

My Rating:

Life has not been easy for Penelope Summers. Specifically, the last month, when her high-profile boyfriend dumped her, her indecent exposure record surfaced, and her favorite thing in the world, tequila, failed her.
Good thing for Penelope, she has her best friend to pick her up, and take her on the vacation of a lifetime. A seven-day cruise that will change the direction of her downward spiral. But will that spiral shift in the direction Penelope needs? Or will it throw her into a bigger whirlwind of trouble?
With Reckless Abandon as her motto, tequila as her wingman, and a hot one-night stand as her much needed reward, will the tables finally turn for Penelope, or will life as she knows it continue to fail her?
Sometimes you just have to ride the wave of crazy to find out.

READ THIS BOOK.........I had the pleasure of getting an ARC for this book. I have also met this amazing author and she is the sweetest, funniest person. I suggest if you get the chance to meet her to do it and to read ALL her books.

Now onto this book. This is by far her best written book. I was a true fan from her first book and that was always my favorite but this book has J.D. written all over it. You can tell that her personality is in this book. I loved this book and is now at the top of my list.

When you are reading this book you will laugh, cry, get mad, get your heart ripped out then put back together then ripped out again , but by the end you will be smiling and cheering for the characters. I'm a big fan of reading both point of views in a book, and that's what this book is. So if you don't like that well get over it. Meet Penny, the tequila drinking, no filter, (comedic liar ) not sure that's a word but i'm making it up. Meet Sam, the millionaire who insists that Penny is his forever after meeting her on a cruise. I want more of this couple in another book. I wish I could be like Penny and just say whatever comes to my mind first. LOL.

Well done J.D. on this book and this is by far your best one.
Creative designer, mother, wife, writer, part time superhero...

J.D. Hollyfield is a creative designer by day and superhero by night. When she is not trying to save the world one happy ending at a time, she enjoys the snuggles of her husband, son and three doxies. With her love for romance, and head full of book boyfriends, she was inspired to test her creative abilities and bring her own story to life.

Life in a Rut, Love not Included is her Debut Novel. J.D. Hollyfield lives in the Midwest, and is currently at work on blowing the minds of readers, with the additions to the Love not Included series, along with her charm, humor and HEA's.

Today we have Fling by Jana Aston, a sexy romantic comedy that releases today!! Grab your copy and enter Jana’s giveaway today!

fling

About Fling: I have a crush on my boss’ best friend. At least it’s not my brother’s best friend. Or my best friend’s brother. Or… never mind. It’s all pretty cliche.   And worse? My boss’ best friend is his business partner. Which sort of makes him my boss too. Okay - it’s not sort of. It’s definite. Gabe Laurent is off limits. Totally off limits.   Which is fine. I make do with my imagination. He’ll never know. Ever. Unless my work bestie passes me an eighties-style teen movie sex quiz during a meeting and I fill it out.   And it ends up in Gabe’s hands…

Exclusive Excerpt: "What do you think of Sandra?" I ask Sawyer as I snag a signed baseball from a display case along the far wall of his office. I settle into one of the guest chairs across his desk and toss the ball over my head before catching it again. He's reviewing something on his monitor and he pauses at my question and turns his attention to me. "You know she's the best executive assistant I've ever had. Do you need her help with something? I thought you were happy with Preston?" Somehow human resources only assigns me gay men or women old enough to have birthed me. I suspect that's on direct orders from Sawyer. Dick. I give the ball another toss and catch. "No, I meant, what do you think of Sandra as a woman?" "I don't," Sawyer says, narrowing his eyes at me. "She's got a thing for me," I say. "She doesn't," Sawyer says dismissively and taps the mouse on his desk, intent on ignoring me. "She does," I insist. "She's always looking at me." "Maybe she thinks you're an idiot." That's a distinct possibility. I've never been quite sure. Most of the time she ducks her head and calls me Mr. Laurent as she scurries past. It fucking turns me on, but I'm not sure if it turns her on or if she honestly just thinks I'm an asshole. "I think she's dating someone in marketing," Sawyer adds while tapping on his keyboard, engrossed with whatever's on the screen in front of him. "They broke up over the summer," I say confidently, leaning back in the chair and tossing the ball a little further in the air. "How do you know that?" Sawyer stops typing and crosses his arms across his chest. He doesn't look pleased with my knowledge of Sandra's dating life; I think he views her like the little sister he never had. "What could you possibly want to do with Sandra anyway?" I catch the ball as my brows raise in disbelief. "You need me to spell it out for you, buddy?" I lean forward in the chair and adopt a serious tone. "Sometimes, when two people are attracted to each other, they enjoy taking their clothing off together so they can—" "Shut up," Sawyer interrupts. "She's not really your type." "Beautiful?" I question. "Sweet," he replies. She is sweet, he's right about that. I think about the paper burning a hole in my pocket and wonder again if it was hers. I'd like it to be hers. I think sweet Sandra has a hidden dirty side, and I'd really like to uncover it.
