My Rating:

We all have tragic backstories in today's world.
I wake up chained to the wall of a dark cell aware of two things: I failed my sister, and I smell my enemy.
When I’m taken to meet Dare, the alpha of the Silver Tip pack, I’m sure I’m about to lose my throat. The last thing I expect is for the Alpha to recognize me as his fated mate. No way is he going to let me go now, and I still have to find a way to rescue my sister.
As I plot my escape to save her, I find that if I leave, Dare could be killed by power-hungry members of his pack. And now he’s more to me than my fated mate—my heart is involved. With time ticking by on my sister’s life, I have to make a choice I never thought I’d face—my sister’s life or my mate’s? That’s if I can survive the undead shifters intent on killing me first...

Holy… I don’t think there are enough words to describe this book. For over a year I have been raving about anything Megan Erickson writes. But when I saw she was stepping out of contemporary and into the paranormal, I didn’t know what to expect. I have never read an adult paranormal book before. Let along an adult paranormal book with a M/M romance between werewolves. I can definitely check that off the list now.

In her world, humans have been extincted and all that is left are Werewolves, Weres and Noweres aka zombie Weres. If it sounds confusing, it kinda is until it isn’t. The first thing I did was draw a little cheat sheet to keep the lore in place. We are gifted with Reese. A werewolf that is just trying to save his siblings from his tyrant alpha. Him and his brother manage to barely escape and end up in the Silver Tip pack. A Were pack. Weres and Werewolves aren’t the best of friends. Weres’ are much more superior in more ways than one. Or at least that is what they are all told to believe.

Anyway, I could go on and on about the lore of it all because that is how AWESOME it was. But back to the real reason of this. The reason why you shouldn’t try to read this book in public because you may overheat. Dare. Dare is the alpha of the Silver Tip pack. He is everything that you would want in an Alpha. He has brains, brawn and best of all, compassion. But now he has a couple of werewolves in his camp. And the last thing he was expecting was to find his true mate in Reese. A true mate is like imprinting on steroids with a tranquilizer of sexual tension. I mean, hot damn. Their relationship seems so perfect in the checks and balance way. They complement each other in a way you expect soulmates to.

Megan did what she has always done well, and that is build a story full of tension, suspense, enough sexual tension and payoff to sink the titanic, humor that has you wanting to giggle in public, and a deep love connection between great characters. I could go on and on about the twists and turns of this but that wouldn’t be fair. You need to read this book. It has everything you could ever want and things you didn’t even know you wanted. I didn’t know I would fall in love with two hot as hell shifters. But here we are.
