Waiting On Wednesday #2

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

But on a Thursday. Sorry for the late post, technical difficulties.

Title: Ensnared
Author: A.G. Howard
Release Date: January 6, 2015

After surviving a disastrous battle at prom, Alyssa has embraced her madness and gained perspective. She’s determined to rescue her two worlds and the people and netherlings she loves. Even if it means challenging Queen Red to a final battle of wills and wiles... and even if the only way to Wonderland, now that the rabbit hole is closed, is through the looking-glass world—a parallel dimension filled with mutated and sadistic netherling outcasts.
In the final installment of the Splintered trilogy, Alyssa and her dad journey into the heart of magic and mayhem in search of her mom and to set right all that’s gone wrong. Together with Jeb and Morpheus, they must salvage Wonderland from the decay and destruction that has ensnared it. But even if everyone succeeds and comes out alive, can they all truly have their happily ever after?
I'm anxiously awaiting the third installment of the Splintered series. Unhinged left us on a huge cliffhanger, and I'm dying to know what happened to Morpheus, Jeb, and Alyssa's mom. Beyond that, A.G. Howard's writing style is one that draws you in and makes you forget the world around you. I was in a major book hangover after reading the first two. I'm expecting three to be just as good. No pressure or anything.

Title: On The Fence
Author: Kasie West
Release Date: July 1, 2014

She's a tomboy. He's the boy next door…
Charlie Reynolds can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn't know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at a chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world. To cope with the stress of her new reality, Charlie takes to spending nights chatting with her neighbor Braden through the fence between their yards. As she grows to depend on their nightly Fence Chats, she realizes she's got a bigger problem than speeding tickets-she's falling for Braden. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.
Fun, original, and endearing, On the Fence is a romantic comedy about finding yourself and finding love where you least expect.
I will probably read anything by Kasie West. When I read The Distance Between Us, I fell in love with her writing. And there isn't a week that goes by that I don't think about On The Fence. The blurb just spoke to me and I can't wait to get my hands on it. It seems like it is going to be a really good summer read and no doubt Kasie will deliver.

What are you waiting for this week? Tell us in the comments below!

Top Ten Tuesday Freebie! Books we'd like to reread

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. It's a freebie Tuesday! We got to pick our own topic and we want to talk about re-reads. We both love reading new books but there are some you just want to go back and revisit.

  1. The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton - I know I just finished this one, but it was THAT good. I intend to thoroughly dissect this.
  2. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr - I read this a few years ago and moved on to Ink Exhange, but never finished the series, despite loving both books. I would like to go back to the beginning and this time read all.
  3. Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren - I'm not positive this constitutes as a reread, but I'm counting it as one. I read the fanfic and loved it. I'm hoping to love it just as much as an original fiction.
  4. The Splintered Series by A.G. Howard - This will be one of those series that I never tire of. Just like the story, it's magical, and I very much look forward to diving back in before the release of Ensnared.
  5. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - I remember thinking I would never get through this book. By the end, however, I was captivated by the circus and wished so badly it were read. Wanting to reread it has more to do with wondering if it was really as enchanting as I remember than having the desire to revisit a book I loved.

  6. This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper - This book was the first book that Keira recommended to me and ever since I've been more of an active reader. It was such a darkly funny book everything I look for in stories. We actually have plans to reread it before the movie comes out in September.
  7. Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin - I loved this book but I was so hesitant to read the second so I haven't. I still have plans to so before I get to that I'd like to start at the beginning.
  8. Divergent Series by Veronica Roth - I dove into this series and it had so much I wanted to reread it before the first movie came out. Maybe I'll reread before the second comes out just so I can remember all that happened.
  9. Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling - This series holds a special place in my heart (And my arm in form of a tattoo). Having watched some of the movies recently, I realized there is so much I just don't remember. I would love to fall back into the magical world that is Harry Potter.
  10. The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice - This was the first erotica book that I ever read. I read it back in high school, so I would like to go back and see if I like it the same now that I'm older.

Stacking The Shelves #6

Stacking The Shelves, a weekly meme hosted Tynga's Reviews, is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

We're back on track! How was everyone's week? I'm sure it was full of fun reads. Did you check out the cool things we did this week on the blog? We had our first cover reveal! Give it a peek.

  • The Maze Runner by James Dashner - As you may know, or may not, Nikki and I read and discuss a book a month. Since The Maze Runner is coming to theaters soon, we've selected this one for June.
  • My Ex From Hell by Tallulah Darling - Last week I added My Life From Hell to my shelves, not knowing it was the third in a trilogy, so I've started this and so far so so good. This little book is hilarious.
  • Moonless by Crystal Collier - This is what I believe to be an era book, but don't quote me. It's next (after books 2 and 3 of Sophie Bloom) on my list. When I found this on Netgalley I thought it might be perfect for my quest to branch out.
  • Get Happy by Mary Amato - When I read the blurb, I was thrilled and couldn't wait to jump in. Unfortunately, this title fell flat for me, but that's not to say you shouldn't give it a try.
  • All Lined Up by Cora Carmack - I haven't started this one yet but I had read Losing It by Carmack and was in love with her style, so I decided to give this a shot. Plus, I am a sucker for some sports love story.
  • Beautiful Stranger by Christina Lauren - I had read the first book in the Beautiful Bastard series a couple of months ago and I liked it a lot. After finishing the novella after sitting on it for weeks, I gave this a chance. ADORED it! It was sexy and funny and surpassed the first and the novella for me.
  • Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren - If I thought I was in love with the second, the third blew me into the obsessed status for this series. Heart wrapped in a very sexy coating.
  • Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren - This is the first book in their new series (Which I'm going to a signing for this Thursday!) and having read the previous two books and this one within 5 days, this did not disappoint. Foreign boys with sexy accents? Check. Sexy times in Paris? Check. Swooning for days? Check Check CHECK!
  • This Song Will Save Your Life by Lelia Sales - This one I'm proud of because I won it on twitter! Yes! The author had a twitter contest and as the winner I picked this book. This had been on my list for a while so it was really fortunate. It also came with a mix CD!

So, next week we will NOT be doing stacking the shelves. Due to a fun trip to Book Con and some Fault In Our Stars things, I (Nikki) will be super duper busy. BUT look out for my write up of Book Con and other fun treats. Might be a giveaway in the near future. *Wink Wink*

Until Next time!

Book Review: Coin Heist by Elisa Ludwig (@ElisaLudwigYA)

Coin Heist by Elisa Ludwig
Publication Date: June 10, 2014
Published: Adaptive Studios
Source: eARC from Netgalley

My Rating:

The last place you’d expect to find a team of criminals is at a prestigious Philadelphia prep school. But on a class trip to the U.S. Mint – which prints a million new coins every 30 minutes – an overlooked security flaw becomes far too tempting for a small group of students to ignore.

United by dire circumstances, these unlikely allies – the slacker, the nerd, the athlete, and the "perfect" student – band together to attempt the impossible: rob the U.S. Mint. The diverse crew is forced to confront their true beliefs about each other and themselves as they do the wrong thing for the right reasons.

Elisa Ludwig's Coin Heist is a fun, suspenseful, and compelling thriller, told from the revolving perspectives of four teens, each with their own motive for committing a crime that could change all of their lives for the better—if they can pull it off.

Cover Reveal: This Summer by Katlyn Duncan

This Summer
Release Date: 07/2014
Carina UK

Summary from Goodreads:

Before college, before responsibilities, Hadley Beauman and best friend Lily are determined to have a summer to remember. There will be all the usual dramas - ex-boyfriends who don't seem to know what 'ex' means, pesky younger brothers with unrequited crushes, but what Hadley didn't anticipate was the out-of-the-blue return of the seriously hot boy-next-door, Will Carson. The boy who broke her heart when he skipped town two years ago.

Will may have shot up a foot and filled out (oh yes), but inside he carries the weight of guilt - for leaving, for coming back... Now he's just passing through to tie up loose ends but it's clear the old chemistry still crackles between him and Hadley. Trouble is, it's built on two years of lies...

This summer might just be the best time of their lives, but is Hadley ready for everything to change - again?

Waiting On Wednesday #1

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Our first WoW and we couldn't be anymore excited.

Title: The Dolls
Author: Kiki Sullivan
Release Date: September 2, 2014

Eveny Cheval just moved back to Louisiana after spending her childhood in New York with her aunt Bea. Eveny hasn’t seen her hometown since her mother’s suicide fourteen years ago, and her memories couldn’t have prepared her for what she encounters. Because pristine, perfectly manicured Carrefour has a dark side full of intrigue, betrayal, and lies—and Eveny quickly finds herself at the center of it all.
Enter Peregrine Marceau, Chloe St. Pierre, and their group of rich, sexy friends known as the Dolls. From sipping champagne at lunch to hooking up with the hottest boys, Peregrine and Chloe have everything—including an explanation for what’s going on in Carrefour. And Eveny doesn’t trust them one bit.
But after murder strikes and Eveny discovers that everything she believes about herself, her family, and her life is a lie, she must turn to the Dolls for answers. Something’s wrong in paradise, and it’s up to Eveny, Chloe, and Peregrine to save Carrefour and make it right.
The Dolls because I love mean girl books and a good mystery. This sounds like it has both elements. Also, I've never read anything by Kiki Sullivan and I'm trying to branch out a bit more. I tend to stick with authors I know. Time to break that cycle.

Title: They All Fall Down
Author: Roxanne St. Claire
Release Date: October 14, 2014

Pretty Little Liars meets Final Destination in this YA psychological thriller that will have readers' hearts racing right till the very end!
Every year, the lives of ten girls at Vienna High are transformed.
All because of the list.
Kenzie Summerall can't imagine how she's been voted onto a list of the hottest girls in school, but when she lands at number five, her average life becomes dazzling. Doors open to the best parties, new friends surround her, the cutest jock in school is after her.
This is the power of the list. If you're on it, your life changes.
If you're on it this year? Your life ends.
I am not really one for reading psychological thrillers but after reading this description and seeing the cover, I needed to put it on my list. I really hope that this delivers because I love a mystery and this seems like one.

What are you waiting on this week?
