Book Discussion: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

Second book discussion and first of the new year! We're really excited to share our thoughts on this book. It had been one we both wanted to read for a while and both ended up loving. Anyway, lets get down to it.

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.
One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black

WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD! If you haven't read the book yet, be careful of what you read from this point on. Few spoilers throughout. But if you've read the book, then join us!

Top Ten Tuesday: 2014 Resolutions!

Happy New Year! We're back and with that comes a new Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the lovelies at The Broke and The Bookish. And new year means resolutions. Eep! Resolutions are hard to keep every year they come around but this year we're going to try really hard to keep them.

  • Read double the books I read in 2013, so 100.
  • Read something I typically wouldn't, Adult Sci-Fi, here I come.
  • Lose 90 pounds. 85 to go!
  • Walk or run at least 800 workout miles.
  • Think Positively.
  • Lose 50-100 pounds. Ambitious but hell if I won't try.
  • Learn a new skill. Probably knitting or how to do make-up. (Tomboy)
  • Reach my goal of 50 or more books this year.
  • Outline and/or start the draft of my novel.
  • Work on my confidence. Without it, none of the others will be possible.

Hopefully with the help of each other and the people around us, we can get these done! Now what are some of your resolutions? Book related or not, we would love to hear about them!

Until Next Time
