A to Z Book Survey! Part 2

Hi again! Back for some bookish fun. Nikki came across this survey on her friend's blog and she got it from another blog. Now it is my turn to give it a shot. Enjoy!

Author you've read the most books from:
I’m not sure. If I like a book by a certain author I usually go on a binge, hoping that all of their books are as good as the first. I've read all but one of John Green’s books. All of Gillian Flynn, Jenny Han, Rainbow Rowell, Melissa Marr, and of course since there were so many in the Anita Blake series, I've read quite a few by Laurell K. Hamilton. Same with J.K. Rowling.

Best Sequel Ever:
Unhinged by A. G. Howard - It’s no secret that I love the Splintered series. A. G. Howard brought Wonderland to life for me, so of course I loved Unhinged, but my love for this book goes beyond that. I suck at keeping up with series. Book two rarely lives up to the first book, so unless I’m emotionally invested or simply can’t get enough, I rarely read on. This sequel, however, exceeded my expectations and surprisingly, I liked it even more than Splintered!

Currently Reading:
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Drink of Choice While Reading:
Coffee in the morning, into the afternoon and a nice red wine at night.

E-reader or Physical Book?
Both. Lately I’ve been buying more physical books. There’s something about the feel of a book in your hands that makes you *feel* like a reader and it’s pretty relaxing. However, I like the convenience of e-books. I can grab my phone, Nook, iPad, read anywhere, and do it discreetly if needed. It seems I read a bit faster in e-format, as well. Not sure if that’s true, but it seems that way.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:
I had terrible taste in boys in high school! The badder, the better. The crazier, the better. Travis Maddox would have been my high school dreamboy, no doubt.

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:
My Ex From Hell by Tallulah Darling - Hilarious! I loved every drop of this series.

Hidden Gem Book:
The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider - This was Nikki’s answer, and I’m seconding it.

Important Moment in your Reading Life:
When Nikki came to me and asked how I felt about starting a discussion blog. [laughs] I had no idea I would get so invested! Wait, let me take it back. It had to have been when I read the Twilight series because, even though it isn't the best book, it led me to fanfic, which led me to an incredible community of writers and readers - including Nikki - which led me here.

Just Finished:
Between the Lives by Jessica Shirvington

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:
Please don’t stone me. It really has nothing to do with religion, I go to Mass once a week, just saying… but… Christian Romance.

Longest Book You've Read:
Hmm. It was either Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl or The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest by Stieg Larsson, which were ironically 563 pages apiece, according to Goodreads.

Major book hangover because of:
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black -  I didn't expect to love it, but once it was over I just couldn't stop thinking about it!

Number of Bookcases You Own:
Four, one large, one corner, and two small. I could probably do with another three.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson. I read it twice last year and hope to read it again soon.

Preferred Place To Read:
My backyard or the bathtub.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you've read:
This wasn’t my favorite book, but this quote stuck with me, and I've silently repeated it often.

“Don’t take life too seriously. Punch it in the face when it needs a good hit. Laugh at it.” ~ Slammed, Colleen Hoover

Reading Regret:
Not reading more when I was younger. It’s always been something I loved to do, but in high school it wasn't a priority unless it was mandatory. I wish now that weren't so.

Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:
I've recently added this one to my list, The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton, Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

Unapologetic Fangirl For:
A. G. Howard. I love her books, she interacts with fans on twitter, and does so humbly. It is rare that I fangirl over an author, but I really really like this one.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:
Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian - I’m dying to know how this series will end!

Worst Bookish Habit:
Checking out GR reviews before starting or midway through a book. I can’t help it!

Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, I loved this book!

Your latest book purchase:
On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Until Next Time!

  1. This survey is so fun! I remember when EVERYONE was doing them a few months ago, and it makes me smile to see another. I especially agree that The Beginning of Everything is a hidden gem of a book. The writing is so wonderfully clever - it deserves way more attention than it gets!

  2. I agree! The Beginning of Everything was probably my favorite book last year. Male protagonists often don't work for me. I have trouble finding their voice, but I loved Ezra. Not to mention the puns!

    Thanks for stopping by, Emily!

I really like this survey! I need to finish Daughter of Smoke and Bone series too. The reading incompleteness of an all-books-out series hurts my bookish heart. The Book Thief is amazing :)

  4. Thanks!

I was thinking after I finished it that there were so many series I could have answered with. Karou is one of my favorite protagonists though, so no regrets there. If only there were more hours in the day perhaps we could both get to more of our reading lists. *sigh*
