My Rating:
Theo MacLeod wasn’t supposed to be the one.
Tall, dark and handsome suits me just fine, but the cocky grin, know-it-all attitude, and mammoth ego? No thanks. I only hired him so I wouldn’t have to sit at the singles table again. It was just pretend.
He wasn’t supposed to kiss me.

My heart wasn’t supposed to pound.

We weren’t supposed to spend the night together—the hottest night of my life.

One night turns into a snowed-in weekend away, and even the blizzard of the century can’t cool the fire between us. I can’t get enough—of his smile, of his body, of the way he makes me feel.
We’re nothing alike. He’s a daredevil, and I’m a nervous Nellie. He’s a drifter, and I want to put down roots. He’s an opportunist with a checkered past, and I’m a Girl Scout volunteer.
But none of it matters when I’m in his arms.
I know he’s made mistakes. I know his wounds are deep, and he doesn’t trust easily. I know he doesn’t believe he could ever be enough to make me happy, but he could.

All he has to do is stay.

When Melanie Harlow writes her stories, you have no choice to become invested in the world and characters. If You Were Mine is no different. This is a fun, hot, and incredibly sweet. The characters are full and pull you in from the beginning.

Theo and Claire were just amazing protagonists. Claire was doubting herself. Seemed like she was the the last single one of her group of friends. That feeling was amplified when she gets invited to a friend's wedding and is about to be placed at the dreaded singles table. What's a girl to do? Lie. She lies and makes up this Ryan (insert hot movie Ryan here) look-a-like as her boyfriend and date. But when she has to produce this new beau, that's where things get tricky. Drunken internet browsing leads to Theo, the date for hire.

Tall, dark and handsome isn't exactly what Claire expected, but she wasn't complaining when bad-boy with baggage comes into the picture. Theo has walls and the last thing he wants is a relationship or anyone to bypass them. But Claire becomes his exception. After having a one time taste, he can't get enough or let her go. But of course he thinks he doesn't deserve her.

What I loved about both Claire and Theo is that they both tugged on my heartstrings. I genuinely rooted for both of them. Claire wasn't this over the top heroine. She didn't make me want to chuck her out a window. She has simple goals in life but she wasn't a push over. And Theo complimented her in the best way.

Read this. It will be the best thing you do.
