Book Review: Escorted by Claire Kent!

Escorted (Escorted #1)
Author: Claire Kent
Publication Date: December 15, 2012

My Rating:

She hired him to take her virginity...but now she wants even more.
Lori might be a popular romance writer, but she's never been anything but a flop with sex and love in her personal life. Still a virgin at twenty-six and increasingly frustrated by her inexperience, she decides to take matters into her own hands. She hires a talented, sexy male escort to take care of her inconvenient virginity.
She assumes one time with Ander will be enough, but she never dreams how much pleasure he can make her feel. Once isn't nearly enough. Twice isn't enough either. Soon, she becomes one of his regular clients.
Lori knows that nothing would be as foolish as falling in love with her paid escort, but she's never been wise with her heart. And, despite his professionalism, he doesn't seem entirely immune either.

Everyone has their own fantasy of how their first time is going to go, well everyone except Lori, who just wants to get it over with, at least at first she did. Lori, is a bestselling romance novelist, who is seeking experience in sex, since she is still a virgin at the age of twenty-six, so with the help of her cousin, she finds an escort, Ander, who comes highly recommended.

Ander has a past he is trying to steer clear of, and after their first awkward encounter, Lori continues the service and is eventually finds herself tangled in a web she didn’t want to be in, but can’t get enough of.

I was just looking for a quick weekend read, I normally don’t read books of the erotic nature, but the plot seemed interesting. An inexperienced romance novelist, looking for sex? Of course that’s interesting and it’s the most interesting aspect of this story. I like that Lori was actually doing this for her career and not just for pleasure, well it didn’t start out that way anyway. I also liked Ander, and the fact that he had a soul and a past, it wasn’t dark and creepy, but it was still good enough to understand why he was a gigolo. It’s nice to know he isn’t a sex addict, but just needed the money to support himself, which is the case for a lot of people in the escort business, some people just don’t see it that way. Other than that, I think the novel was cliché, I predicted the ending from the beginning, so it wasn’t jaw dropping or eye opening, or in this case panty-dropping, there was enough of that in the book. There could have been more depth in Lori’s past, her reason she being a virgin was understandable, but I just wanted a bit more, I know sometimes it’s not really a deep dark secret why someone is still a virgin, but I just wanted more considering the plot, but I did think Lori was an okay character, she wasn’t the best, I liked Ander more than her, but he wasn’t that great either. Both of them lacked a personality. They were a bit too pleasing to each other, Lori would get mad at him for about two seconds and then it would just end, and Ander’s little outburst should have been explosive, I mean not Chris Brown and Rihanna level, but just something more to give this guy some edge, but that’s just my opinion.

Overall, I think the novel was okay, like I said before I’m not a fan of erotica. I didn’t get far in Fifty Shades of Grey, but I’m sure if you did then you might enjoy this novel. It’s not very long, and the sex scenes are very detailed, so if you’re in the mood then pick up this book. I give this book 2 stars!
