Due to an accident, caused by Aaryn, a cupid in training, he is forced to go to earth and fix the love that should have been, but instead is very complicated and stressful. Karma, the girl who Aaryn, managed to hit, is teen mom, with dreams to be a dancer, with a moron of a boyfriend, Danny, who was supposed to get shot with the other arrow, but due to a faulty arrow his love for Karma never arrived. So, this story is basically about a literal shot at love that went terribly wrong, like most loves in this world. I know everyone has been there at some point.
Karma, the girl protagonist of the story was very annoying to me. I know she had her struggles as a teen mom trying to have a life, but did she really need to be desperate enough to believe her boyfriend wasn’t cheating on her? The signs were right in front of her face, but of course she was blinded by Aaryn’s arrow, which made her a complete and total idiot! I’m sorry but reading her chapters angered me. At times, her boyfriend was physically abusive and it wasn’t anything Chris Brown did to Rihanna, but it was still abuse and she covered for him. I get he’s the father of her child and its really Aaryn’s fault for her feelings, but come on, wake up and dump the asshole! I think I honestly disliked her more than Danny, and I didn’t think that was possible.
However, I do think it is a decent read, I didn’t hate it, I just wish Karma wasn’t so stupid. I would love to read a YA novel where a girl is brave and smart enough to dump her before, without having a backup boy waiting for the break up. A girl doesn’t need a boy to be complete, even if she does have a baby. I wish the people who write YA would wake up and realize that, but all in all I give this book 3 stars.
