Author Interview: Sarina Bowen! AND Cover Reveal for Hard Hitter!

Lazy Book Lovers: Do you read/respond to your reviews? Any advice on how to deal with the bad ones?

Sarina Bowen: I read some reviews, it just depends on how busy I am. But I try never to respond, even to factual inaccuracies. Once I put up a book for sale, it's no longer mine to interpret. There's this wonderful line in Elizabeth Gilbert's BIG MAGIC where she says, "Let people have their opinions. More than that--let people love their opinions, just as you and I are in love with ours." Whenever I read this quote it reminds me how the world works!


LBL: You've probably have been asked what your writing process is, I would like to know what are some of your writing distractions?

SB: Everything is a distraction! Dirty dishes. Laundry. Children. You just have to love your story enough to stick with it. It works on most days!


LBL: I'm sure your books have inspired other authors. What authors inspired you?

SB: Alice Hoffman was the first novelist who ever inspired me. I still love her.


LBL: Us being the Lazy Book Lovers, what are some of the things that you do in your down time to veg out?

SB: Hmm. I'm not good at vegging out. I read other people's books, I guess.


LBL: What made you put the Star Wars references in Bittersweet?

SB: I see Griff as a crusader, and I thought he could identify.


LBL: Is this book something you've wanted to do for awhile?

SB: Yes! Here's a secret--before I wrote romance, I was a food writer for a while. Bittersweet is like coming home.


LBL: What was the hardest scene to write? (hint hint the slaughter scene)

SB: I struggled the most with Jude's book, honestly. Griff and Audrey are mostly sunshine and rainbows. And bacon is tasty so the pig slaughter didn't really get to me.


LBL: Will Zach get his own book?

SB: Yes, I promise.


LBL: Describe Bittersweet in 3 words?

SB: Hot, steamy, delicious
