Waiting on Wednesday #17

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Happy Wednesday! Who else is having a busy week? I sure as hell am. But I am happy to bring you our books today.

Author: Nova Ren Suma
Release Date: March 24, 2015

“Ori’s dead because of what happened out behind the theater, in the tunnel made out of trees. She’s dead because she got sent to that place upstate, locked up with those monsters. And she got sent there because of me.”
The Walls Around Us is a ghostly story of suspense told in two voices—one still living and one long dead. On the outside, there’s Violet, an eighteen-year-old dancer days away from the life of her dreams when something threatens to expose the shocking truth of her achievement. On the inside, within the walls of a girls’ juvenile detention center, there’s Amber, locked up for so long she can’t imagine freedom. Tying these two worlds together is Orianna, who holds the key to unlocking all the girls’ darkest mysteries.
We hear Amber’s story and Violet’s, and through them Orianna’s, first from one angle, then from another, until gradually we begin to get the whole picture—which is not necessarily the one that either Amber or Violet wants us to see.
Nova Ren Suma tells a supernatural tale of guilt and innocence, and what happens when one is mistaken for the other.
I love a good haunted tale and this one sounds amazing. I've heard wonderful things about Nova Ren Suma's writing. While getting my hopes up isn't something I make a habit of, I admit, my hopes are pretty high up there for this one.

Title: Hellhole
Author: Gina Damico
Release Date: January 6, 2015

A devil is a bad influence . . .
There was a time when geeky, squeaky-clean Max Kilgore would never lie or steal or even think about murder.
Then he accidentally unearths a devil, and Max’s choices are no longer his own. The big red guy has a penchant for couch-surfing and junk food—and you should never underestimate evil on a sugar high. With the help of Lore, a former goth girl who knows a thing or two about the dark side, Max is racing against the clock to get rid of the houseguest from hell before time—and all the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos this side of the fiery abyss—run out. Gina Damico, author of the Croak series, once again delivers all the horror, hilarity, and high-stakes drama that any kid in high school or hell could ever handle.
This seems HILARIOUS! The cover alone makes me giggle when I see it. Something about the devil couch-surfing and eating junk food seems fitting in the most perfect way. It kinda reminds me of the move Idle Hands in a way and I hope it delivers on the horror and humor.

Until Next Week!

  1. Hellhole is one I really want. There's an ARC of it on YA Book Exchange, but I have nothing the person trading wants. :-(

  5. Whaaaa? I had no idea Gina Damico had another book coming out--and that it had a cover and synopsis already! I LOVED Croak and Scorch, though I haven't gotten to Rogue. I always found myself laughing out loud. MUST HAVE. Great picks, y'all!
