Sunday Post #3

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Happy 6th of July! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. I'm fairly certain I'm still recovering from lack of sleep, but the day was spent with family and friends, which was lovely. My week was otherwise uneventful. I made it back into town and while I can't say we've completely reverted to our old schedule, we are settled. It's good to be home, and back to some resemblance of normalcy, at least for the next two weeks.

Nikki had a week full of wracked nerves and excitement as she prepared to do the Color Run. I know, not something to be nervous about, but this was her first run, and she was certain she was going to die. She didn't, for the record. In fact, she had an amazing time!

In other Nikki news, she's moved past her slump and back to "OMG"ing me once again with her love for the books she's reading. There's nothing quite like hearing someone try to express their emotions while reading. It always comes out something like "fdaio;heuaire!!!" That is, until you read it for yourself to see what all the hoopla's about.

Love is the Biggest Gamble of All . . .

Cocktail waitress Sophie Dalton doesn't exactly have a life plan. She's perfectly happy being everyone's favorite party girl. But when a Las Vegas bachelorette party goes awry and an uptight businessman mistakes Sophie for a prostitute . . . well, Sophie wonders if it's time to reevaluate her priorities. Swearing off her thigh-high boots for good, Sophie slinks back home with damaged pride-and a jackpot of a hangover.
Yet what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay there. On a trip to Seattle to open a new office, Grayson Wyatt meets his latest employee-who turns out to be the same woman he recently called a hooker. Wealthy and gorgeous, Gray is a man used to getting what he wants. And it doesn't take long to figure out that smart, sassy, sexy Sophie is everything he's been looking for. As their late nights at the office turn into hot morning-afters, they realize their Vegas misunderstanding may lead to the real thing . . .

Okay, I admit it…I didn’t do it.

Yet.
This is normal, right? I mean, just because everyone I know has talked like they’ve already done it doesn’t mean that they’re telling the truth…right?
It’s not like I’m asking for that much. I don’t need the perfect guy. I don’t need candlelight or roses. Honestly, I don’t even need a real bed.
The guys I know complain that girls are always looking for Mr. Right—do I have to wear a sign that says I’m only looking for Mr. Right Now?
Sooooo…anyone out there want sex? Anyone? Hello? Just for fun?
I am not going to die a virgin. One way or another I am going to make this happen.
Hey, what have I got to lose? Besides the obvious.

August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school—until now. He's about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you've ever been the new kid then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie's just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, despite appearances?
R. J. Palacio has written a spare, warm, uplifting story that will have readers laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. With wonderfully realistic family interactions (flawed, but loving), lively school scenes, and short chapters, Wonder is accessible to readers of all levels.

It's going to be a busy week for us. We have a few reviews, a blog tour and a blitz, so plenty of stuff for you all to check out if you're feeling inclined (and I hope you are). As always, we'll have our weekly memes. Thus far, we've enjoyed Thirsty Thursday and hope you all are, too. We would love your feedback on the feature. We were having a few problems with our comments earlier in the week due to our domain change, but we think it's all sorted now. If you have any problems with the new URL (lazybooklovers.com) please note you can always use the old one (lazybooklovers.blogspot.com) and it will redirect.

That's it for this week. Have a great Sunday, readers.

Until Next Time,

  1. I've heard a lot of good things about Anna and the French Kiss, but I don't think I've read a review of it yet. I want to read the book so I'll be watching for yours.
