My Rating:
Alex Dawn is saying no to men. No to bad relationships, disappointments, and smooth-talkers. Focusing on her family and her job at Payton and Sons Automotive keeps her mind occupied and her heart content. She doesn’t really miss a man’s touch, until one night, a man shows up with the body of a god and a voice from her dirtiest dreams.
L.M. Spencer is only in Tory, Maryland, to scope out the town as a possible site for one of his company's hotels. The British businessman didn’t expect his car to break down or to find the hottest little American he’s ever seen holding a tire iron, piercing him with bright blue eyes.
They agree to one hot night, one dirty deed to burn out the chemistry between them. But from their first kiss, Alex can’t stop saying yes to this man. And when Spencer’s company threatens everything she cares about, they must make the choice to stand together or apart.

The deeds are dirty indeed in the third installment of Megan Erickson's Mechanics of Love series.
Alex Dawn is a breath of fresh air for me. In the last book, we learn that she's had a rocky past with her ex-boyfriend. He broke her down and made her not trust her heart anymore or believe in herself. So, with her sister now blissfully in love with Brent Payton, Alex is feeling a bit out of the love loop. That is until L.M. Spencer needs his car fixed.
Spencer was the last person Alex would see herself falling for. A business man from New York, fancy car and clothes to match and a British accent that could leave women from infancy to ninety swooning. I fell over myself for Spencer the moment he came on the page. I could tell there was something more about him and we quickly find out that he isn't so different from Alex's roughneck persona.
Both of them know that their relationship has an expiration date. Spencer is only in Tory scouting out a location for a new hotel and Alex is continuing to lay down her roots there. After a hot one night stand, neither one can shake the other. So they try not to fight the chemistry.
At first I was worried how long this could really last. Obviously, Spencer has to go and the whole time they were talking about it, I was trying to come up with excuses for him to stay. The chemistry between Alex and Spencer was great. On paper they were horrible for each other but as things unfolded, you saw how much Alex needed someone like Spencer to show her how treasured she truly was and he needed someone like Alex to remind him that his own past wasn't that terrible.
Even though I loved Spencer, I adored the little scenes that involved the Payton boys. Brent and Cal will always be my favorites. Seeing how much they really care for the Dawn women and all the women in their lives, really is the heart of this series.
There is banter, sexy times, emotional revelations and sweet times. Another well done story by Megan.
Megan Erickson grew up in a family that averages 5’5” on a good day and started writing to create characters who could reach the top kitchen shelf.
She’s got a couple of tattoos, has a thing for gladiators and has been called a crazy cat lady. After working as a journalist for years, she decided she liked creating her own endings better and switched back to fiction.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. And no, she still can’t reach the stupid top shelf.
