My Rating:

In this sequel to Wallbanger, the second book in the Cocktail series, fan favorites Caroline and Simon negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in San Francisco.
Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides he’s tired of so much travelling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants “out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy mid-ground cliché?
Talk about putting the sophomore slump theory to rest! Usually when I pick up sequels to books I really loved, I either love it more than the first or really hate it. Hate was no where near my vocabulary with Rusty Nailed.

We pick up with our Wallbanger and Pink Nightie girl well into their relationship. Simon is still traveling and Caroline is loving their time together and apart. I really liked how the transition from the end of the first book to this one was very seamless. You felt like you haven't missed much. And for me especially since I read Wallbanger months ago and I tend to forget everything.

Everything we loved about Simon and Caroline from the first was still there in the second. The chemistry between them was even better than ever. It felt like the sexfactor was cranked up to a 12. If we thought Simon knew how to bang some walls before, our minds were blown with the things they do in this book. Lets say there are a lot of clothing ripped and interesting locations for sexy times.

There was also progression in the lives of Caroline and Simon's best friends. Mimi and Ryan were still kicking but Sophia and Neil had called it quits and it was surely effecting the dynamic of the group as a whole. I loved that things weren't perfect in their little circle. It gave a touch of reality. Even Simon and Caroline had issues once the dynamics of their relationship started to change.

Rusty Nailed wasn't just a great follow up to Wallbanger, it felt overall grown up. Issues from the first book were starting to get addressed. There were weddings and promotions. The best way I can equate this is Wallbanger was a book for your early twenties. Rusty Nailed is for your mid to late twenties when real life is knocking on your door. In a fun sexy way.

And there was more Clive! Clive is the best cat ever in the history of cats. (Next to my Jasper of course)
