My Rating:
Got boy problems? Call Laney Scott. She's good for advice, a shoulder, or a swift kick where you need it. When her roommate Bethany gets her heart broken, yet again, it's Laney to the rescue. But Laney's harboring a secret. She's nursing her own broken heart. She and her friends come up with a plan to break Aiden and set it into play. Laney wants Aiden to pay for what he's done to Bethany. She will make him fall in love with her, so can break his heart.
Laney's ex-boyfriend Lachlan Hems is back in Florida, still Australian and sexy as hell. His best mate Lucas is getting married, and he is in town for the show. He just didn’t realize Laney would be there … in another guy’s arms, or that seeing her again would have such an effect on him. After the incident in high-school, he vowed to never care for her again. But sometimes fate has different plans.
When Laney’s resolve crumbles, Lachlan is the only one that can put her back together again.
Where You Are is the start of a three-books new adult series from Amazon and Barnes and Noble bestselling author Alla Kar.
"Thirsty Thursdays" is an original weekly feature where we highlight all that makes our mouth water in the world of books. Join us each week where we will pick either a quote, book cover, book boyfriend or kiss from our favorite books, that makes us all swoony. Please link back to us each week, we'd love for you to share what wets your whistle, as well!
Just as the summer is heating up (For me in NYC it's cooling down and I love it!), we're bringing you some of our favorite steamiest kisses. You know, the ones that make you go take a cold shower? Or is that just me?
Swoon Quality: Anything dealing with thighs parting. Plus, Ethan is hot!
She shakes her head, smiling. "You can't go to dinner flashing all that cleavage. Come here, I'll button it." As soon as she touches my shirt, my hands frame her face, and I bend close, only inches separating us.
Mia doesn't tense or flinch in surprise, and I have this feeling she knew what I'd do when even I didn't.
We stay there, just breathing the same air for a few seconds, making a little pocket of shadow in the brightness that surrounds us.
This has to be our secret, or we could lose everything.
No one can know.
Neither of us says a word but the pact is right there, between us.
Then Mia's fingers close around my collar, tugging me closer, and I can't wait anymore.
I brush her lips with mine. This isn't our first kiss, but it sure as hell feels that way, and it seems important, somehow, to be tender with her.
That doesn't last long. I want more of her right away, and my tongue slides into her mouth. She tastes cool and sweet, like chilled grapes. When I feel her respond, kissing me back like she wants more, I wrap my arms around her, fitting her against me, and give it to her.
Mia draws back slightly after a moment, dashing kisses along the corner of my mouth. I take the opportunity to steal a glance at her from this close - she has the hottest body I've ever seen. I smooth my hand along her ribs, finding the curve of her breast. She sighs and presses closer, and the sound almost makes me lose my mind.
I need more. I hoist her up and turn, settling her on the barstool as I kiss her. Her knees are in my way, so I nudge her legs apart, pusjing her dress up her thighs. Then I settle between her hips.
"You feel incredible, Mia," I say.
But the truth is she feels fucking perfect.
This kiss went on much longer but I didn't want to ruin it all for you guys. But seriously, when the chemistry is good and the attraction is there, kisses like these which seem innocent at first, become the hottest thing ever. A lot of their kisses are like this because there is a sense of forbidden fruit which makes them even more juicier!
Swoon Quality: Every time Ansel speaks, even if he says, "Let's get dinner", I can hear panties drop.
His lips push out a little as he thinks and I can't help but blink down to them. "With me, Cerise?"
I nod. "I know what that means, you know. It means 'cherry'. Pervert."
His eyes shine with amusement. "It does."
"And I'm sure you've guessed I'm not a virgin."
He shakes his head. "Have you seen your mouth? I've never seen lips so full and red."
Unconsciously, I pull my bottom lip into my mouth, sucking it. His eyes grow heavy and he leans closer. "I like when you do that. I want a turn."
My voice is nervous and shaking when I whisper, "They're just lips."
"They're not just lips. And please," he teases, and he's so close I can smell his aftershave. It smells life fresh air, like green and sharp and soothing all at once, something I've never smelled on a man before. "You wear red lipstick so that men won't notice your mouth? Surely you know what we dream about a mouth like that doing."
I don't close my eyes when he leans in and takes my bottom lip between both of his, but he does. His eyes fall closed, and every one of my senses picks up the gravelly sound he makes: I taste it, feel it, hear it, see the way he shivers against me.
He runs his tongue over my lip, sucks gently, and then pulls back. I realize it wasn't really a kiss. It was more a taste. And obviously he agrees: "You don't taste like cherry."
"What do I taste like?"
He shrugs a little, thoughtfully purses his lips.
"I'm unable to think of a good word. Sweet. Like a woman and a girl still, too."
Even before this scene I loved Ansel, but something about the way he spoke to her here was both playful and sexy. It cemented my want to know this character. Not to mention, SWOON!
Which kiss is steaming up your windows titanic style?

This is the only book that has ever made me feel physically ill and creeped out to the point where my husband had to walk me outside! The entire book was sadistic and toyed with my mind.
Hilarious! I loved the Blooming Goddess Trilogy. It was funny, inviting, everything I wanted at the time I read it. There are dark undertones, but for the most part it left me feeling good
Before I read Anna and the French Kiss, I saw this book everywhere. Now that I know who some of the characters are, I'm one of those people waiting on pins and needles for it.
Chocolate with a caramel center -- Name a book that made you feel all gooey in the middle while you were reading it
BIG surprise. I expected this to be a little more lighter but it went down a crazy slope with stalkers and murder and kidnapping. Every corner there was something.
Another book I'm dying to read. It hasn't had a ton of hype, but enough that I can't stop thinking about it. I will put down everything to read this once it's released.
Just thinking about how bad I want this book drives me insane. I even look on ebay sometimes at the people selling ARCs and I yell at the computer for them being so stupid.
Hot Chocolate with cream and marshmallows -- What book would you turn to for a comfort read?
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Title: Famous in Love
Author: Rebecca Serle
Release Date: October 21, 2014
The romantic story of a girl who gets plucked from obscurity to star in the next major feature film franchise based on a book and the ensuing love triangles she gets entangled in on—-and off screen.
Meet Paige Townsen, Rainer Devon, and Jordan Wilder…
When Paige Townsen, a young unknown, gets cast in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a crowded movie set on the shores of Maui, and is spending quality time with her co-star Rainer Devon, one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive. But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie’s famous love triangle, Paige’s crazy new life gets even crazier.
In this coming-of-age romance inspired by the kind of celeb hookups that get clever nicknames and a million page views, Paige must figure out who she is – and who she wants – while the whole world watches.
A friend of mine told me about this book. I'm not a huge fan of love triangles but I am a fan of movie adaptations. And a book about it, sounds really different and fun.
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all. Hearts get infiltrated. Promises get broken. Rules get shattered. Love gets ugly.
This will only be my second read from this author and like her other book I have already heard wonderful things about Ugly Love. Not to mention the synopsis has me intrigued. Anytime someone doesn't want the past revealed there's something buried.
We are creatures of habit. So when we find authors we like we tend to stockpile. Here are our stockpile authors.
John Green - It was accidental that I acquired so many of his books, but I guess I just like his writing and all he has written has ended up on my shelf.
Jonathan Trooper - I went through a Jonathan Trooper phase, where I loved his writing, so I bought all of his books. Two have yet to be read, but I'll get there.
Gillian Flynn - No one does suspense like Gillian Flynn. Her writing is dark and always leaves me wanting more.
Stephenie Meyer - I admit it, I was a Twihard. From actin figure to fanfic, I did it all.
Cecily von Ziegesar - Before twilight, there was Gossip Girl for me. I read all of them and her spin off The It Girl, and I loved them all.
Catherine Bybee - She is a new one for me but once I read one I had to read ALL.
J.K. Rowling - I mean, come on. It's Harry Potter. I also have The Casual Vacancy but still... Harry Potter. Tattoos and all.
Richelle Mead- Keira begged me to read Vampire Academy and from there it was bam, get all the books.
Christina Lauren- They were tied with Stepheine Meyer in my collection and I find it funny cause they started as twilight fanfic writers. But they stand alone and I love their work.
